FOIL
It stands for “First, Outer, Inner, Last”
It is the sum of:
· multiplying the First terms,
· multiplying the Outer terms,
· multiplying the Inner terms, and
· multiplying the Last terms
Example: (a+b)(c+d) = ac + ad + bc + bd
